Appearance: Large, athletic hunters. Coal-black coat with rich tan accents (including distinctive 'pumpkin seeds' above expressive eyes). Long, velvety ears. Big, strong hounds (males up to 27 inches), covering ground with effortless, eager strides.
Traits & Characteristics: Friendly, easygoing hounds who love company. Work nights, snoozy by the fire but tenacious on the trail. Amazingly sensitive nose. Sociable; lonely B&Ts will howl mournfully. Can keep pace with active families but also enjoy relaxing. Strong prey drive requires leash/fence control.
