Appearance: Lean, bushy-tailed, medium-sized pasture dog (19-24 inches). Straight, harsh coat in various colors/patterns. Erect, expressive ears and dark almond eyes give an inquisitive look. Moves at a brisk trot; rugged, agile, tireless.
Traits & Characteristics: One of AKC's oldest breeds, Israel's national dog. Quick, docile with family, aloof with strangers. Ever-alert, vocal, persistent guardian. Clever, confident, territorial; can dominate passive owners. Trainable with positive methods. Excel in agility, obedience, herding, sentry duty.
