Appearance: Unique-looking, compact terrier (under 24 lbs). Large head with profuse, silky white hair; long hanging ears feathered at tips; big round expressive eyes; long, low torso, short legs. Crisp body coat in pepper (blue-black to silver-gray) or mustard (red-brown to fawn).
Traits & Characteristics: Tough but dignified little exterminator. Sturdily built for farm life, adapts to city. Alert, intelligent watchdog with big bark. Enjoy romping/cuddling with kids, less hyper than some small dogs. Typical terrier willfulness, independence, courage. Respond best to positive training.
Origins: Scotland (named after a character in Sir Walter Scott's novel).
