Appearance: Robust spitz type (about 20 inches). Lush silver-gray dense coat, tail curling tightly over back. Deep chest, sturdy legs, muscular thighs (built for work). Dark brown eyes, mobile erect ears. Picture of alert, steadfast northern dog.

Traits & Characteristics: Among Europe's oldest dogs (sailed with Vikings). Dignified but friendly demeanor. Hardy. Famously fine companions, intelligent watchdogs. Excel in agility/herding trials. Reserved until introduced, trustworthy friend after. Strong, confident, sensitive souls with dash of houndy independence.
