Plott Hound

Appearance: Hound with curious name and unique history. Streamlined, long-tailed, light-footed hunter. Medium-length ears hang gracefully. Black nose/lips/eye rims set off inquisitive, confident expression. North Carolina's state dog.

Traits & Characteristics: Rugged, relentless hunting dog. Mellow gentleman at home; fearless, implacable, bold at work. Loyal, intelligent, eager to please. Can be protective/territorial. Need exercise/training; strong hunting drive.

Origins: USA (descended from German hounds brought by Plott family).
